The pursuit of alternatives to burning fossil fuel, the need to get serious about stopping the spread of little fire ants and a community-driven push to restore Girl Scout Camp Kilohana will top the agenda for the Waimea Community Association’s town meeting beginning at 5:15 p.m. this Thursday in Waimea School Cafeteria.
Attendees are invited to bring fire ants found on their property or in potted plants from other parts of the island — frozen — to be examined under a microscope to confirm they are the nasty little pests. The meeting will include a briefing on what to do if little fire ants are located.
Also included in the meeting will be briefings on Google’s Makani energy kite pilot project and Parker Ranch’s new Paniolo Power partnership with Innergex Renewables USA. The
